Moriles in Cordoba in its origin, was a village, belonging to the municipality of Aguilar de la Frontera, called “Aldea de los Zapateros”. In 1818, the small population of Moriles in Cordoba, of just over 200 inhabitants, became a parish, under the patronage of San Jeronimo and dependent on the Arciprestazgo de Aguilar.

On June 18, 1912, the Aldea de Zapateros became the municipality of Moriles in Cordoba, adopting, therefore, the name of some existing settlement in the vicinity of the village and already famous for the quality of its wines, Moriles Altos and Moriles Bajos .
