Main information

Cutar is a gorgeous little whitewashed village, located in remarkable landscape, in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda of the Axarquia region. The scenery is majestic mountainous, contrasting with a fertile land filled with olive groves and vineyards winding down to the rivers La Cueva and Cutar.

It’s the perfect place for a relaxing holiday, or to the contrary, an activity-filled experience in the mountains. The proximity to the coastline makes it a good jump off point to explore the rest of the Costa del Sol.

The village is located 40 kilometres from Malaga city; a car journey which will take around an hour. Lying inland, the closest area of coastline is around Velez Malaga, 26 kilometres or 40 minutes drive to the south. North of the village is the dominating peak of Pena de Hierro y Cutar, 585 metres above sea level, where Neolithic and Iron Age archaeological finds have been made.

As with the rest of the region, Cutar enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. There is approximately 300 days of sunshine and the proximity to the sea keeps temperatures manageable during the summer months.
