The beautiful area of the Axarquia consists of mountains, valleys and the coast. The mountains are covered with orange trees, almonds and olives. The inland white villages are unspoilt and full of charm, with typical Andalucian streets and houses built in the Moorish style.
La Axarquia has its own micro-climate which, being surrounded by hills, creates a sub-tropical feel influenced by the proximity of the sea. The short spring and lengthy autumn are transitional seasons which tend to merge imperceptibly into one another with no winter season.
The area is known for the plentiful opportunities for walking in the hills and mountains or along the coast. You can find here many places of interest and activities for all ages such as boat trips, discovering caves, museums, water parks,…
La Axarquia is a diverse wonderful region to live or from where to enjoy your holidays and definitely suitable for everybody. If you want to experience the real Spanish lifestyle this is your area! All year around you can enjoy many local festivities in the towns. From Carnaval, Semana Santa Easter processions and local ferias.
Whether you want to immerse yourself in Andalucian culture, challenge yourself to the cycling routes, relax in the sun with great food or hike in the mountains, there’s no shortage of things to keep you busy.
