In La Pedriza in Jaen stone axes, ceramics and grave goods have been found. Until the 18th century it was known as the White Quarry, for which it is located further down, towards the east. From that place we know of a hermitage dedicated to the Holy Cross and of a magnificent stone cut that, due to its beauty and softness, was a centuries-old exploitation for the artistic needs of our monuments.

During the 19th century La Pedriza in Jaen’s population moved to a stony hill – hence the name of the village – next to a spring called Fuente Nueva, where about 300 inhabitants currently reside.
