Main information

Pegalajar’s municipal area covers 80 km2 and is located in the valley of the Guadalbullon river, 18.8 km from the city of Jaen.

Its municipal district belongs to the Natural Park of Sierra Magina that is part of the Subbetica and where we can observe beautiful and spectacular landscapes. As regards the vegetation, we can find many holm-oak woods, gall-oak groves, the pino carrasco (Aleppo Pine) and the European Black Pine. It is also important its rich and varied fauna.

Pegalajar in Jaen is a magical town which has gradually been marking through the centuries its signs of identity. Famous for the existence of mysterious caves that crown the high part of the population.

The water seeks its way through the lower part of the village, moved mills and fills the pond in which the people of Pegalajar look with pride, as in a collective mirror that no one will ever tear off, because behind the silver that covers it, hides the entire history of their ancestors who once looked at it. Famous for its caves, in Pegalajar the elements come together to create a natural spectacle, a place to eat, practice extreme sports and walk routes and trails.
