Main information
Monda in Malaga province has been a very old place of settlement of different civilizations throughout history. Neolithic axes were found in the fields near the town and there is a Roman bridge over the Arroyo de La Teja and a Roman road in its proximity.
Fiestas
- Dia de la Sopa Mondena – It takes place on the last Sunday in March, a traditional local soup is served to the village and visitors. It is made from 120kg of stale bread, tomates de culo (dried tomatoes) and vegetables. The origins of the festival date back to the 19th century – the thick broth provided a nutritious meal for the miners. It is made in a one-piece carved wooden bowl.
- Feria de San Roque – Traditionally it is celebrated from 11th to 20th of August. It is celebrated to honour San Roque, the Patron Saint of the town.
