Mollina or the pink flamingos?

Discover this week together with us the beautiful Mollina area in Malaga. Living in Mollina and Antequera places you in the heart of Andalucia. Not only do you get to live the real Spanish way amongst Spaniards, you are only at a 40 minute drive from the Costa del Sol, Granada city and Cordoba. In the heart of Andalucia you get to taste the real Spain.

Mollina has around 5,000 residents made up of mainly Spanish locals. However Mollina does have around 200 established expats and they have a lady working at the townhall to help all expats free or charge with documents, appointments or legal advice. It’s the type of place where you will get to know everbody! Your local shop keepers, your local restaurant and cafe bar owners and of course your neighbours.

Did you know the name Mollina derives in fact from a milling tower, the Torre Mollina? It was vanished some time in the Middle Ages. An alternative theory claims the name originates with its Roman rulers and derives from the Latin ‘mollis’, suave, or bland.

There are also many smaller villages in the area all of which have their own benefits. Fuente de Piedra with its famous flamenco centre and donkey rescue centre. And not to forget the larger town of  Antequera with 42,000 residents that has superb architecture throughout the town.
